If you’re new to Buddhism, I would recommend these resources. There are so many resources available, but the key thing is to consume a bit of information and then try to put it into practice with contemplation (setting aside time to ponder it and reflect on how it applies to your life) and meditation (resting the mind, observing the mind in an open & nonjudgemental way):
- Mingyur Rinpoche’s free Intro to Meditation course
- 10% Happier podcast
- The Joy of Living book by Mingyur Rinpoche
- Tricycle’s Buddhism for Beginners can answer a number of questions that might come up along the way.
I think the best way to start practicing meditation, unless you find it easy to plop yourself down for 10-15 min per day on your own, is to join with a community that offers regular sitting meditation sessions. Accountability and connection to people pursuing the same path and interests can be really encouraging.
