How can you help?

Developing a mindset of giving freely Thinking about what

Join your local Buy Nothing Group or start your own! And start sharing things freely with your neighbors.

Shifting our mindset around consumption

Do we know how to have fun without spending money anymore?

Consider: what do I have to contribute to those around me? What do I need? Ask and ye shall receive! (no promises, but eventually, hopefully!)

Being generous in your city/town/locality

Free Food

A vision I have for part of the Generous City is feeding people healthy and delicious food.

Fresh, real food, not too much, mostly plants. Michael Pollan could be a supporter of this initiative

Community Table

Open home and front lawn to the [[community]] and offer a potluck/buffet-style meal free/by donation to all!

Where to advertise?

Open Restaurants

Partner with restaurants to offer regular soup kitchen style open meals. People eat by donation, supporting some of the cost, the rest we fundraise to cover. Open to all, rich and poor, pay what you can or nothing at all! Come eat delicious, nutritious food and meet your neighbors of the wider [[community]]. Warm, open, healing for body/mind/spirit

Open Cafes

Pop-up style open kitchen after cafes close, use their kitchen to make sliding scale open buffet!

Mission

Why do I want to feed people? Because I believe in the power of healthy food to help people in all aspects of their lives. If people are healthy and well-fed (not overfed) balanced meals, we think clearer, feel better physically, emotionally, mentally, and are better able to lead our lives in a way that benefits ourselves and others. Hunger and malnutrition are a problem for all of society - when we don’t eat well, we don’t think and operate well in our lives and can cause harm to others.

What would be helpful for so many people is having access to healthy meals that are smaller and more frequent

When everything became a gift, I felt self-restraint. I didn’t want to take too much. And I began thinking of what small presents I might bring to the vendors tomorrow. - Robin Wall Kimmerer, Braiding Sweetgrass
